A Carlsbad, New Mexico landfill has received a $1.3 million fine from the New Mexico Environment Department for accepting improper waste. The facility, which attempted to ban NMED staff from inspection, has accepted (and failed to properly cover) asbestos and hazardous waste, in violation of its permit.
