Geosynthetics QA - Construction Site Image, Hardhats

REMINDER: TRI Environmental‘s renowned classes on geosynthetics QA / QC in containment installations and with compacted clay liners and geosynthetic clay liners will be offered for the first time in an online format June 1 – 4. The live, half-day sessions will be taught by the teaching team that annually leads the in-person version of the class: Mark Sieracke, P.E.; Dr. Jeffrey Kuhn, P.E.; and Sam Allen.

The classes can be used as preparation for the Geosynthetic Certification Institute Inspectors Certification Program (GCI-ICP) exam, which will be offered online on June 5.

The schedule:

  • June 1 – 2: Construction QA/QC for Geosynthetic Installations
  • June 3 – 4: Construction QA/QC for Compacted Clay Liner and GCL Installation

These courses can be taken individually or as a package. The half-day sessions run from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm (CDT) each day.

COURSE #1 – GEOSYNTHETIC INSTALLATION

The opening geosynthetica QA course is “Construction QA/QC for Geosynthetic Installations.” It focuses on installation of geomembranes, geotextiles, geocomposites, geogrids, and geo-appurtenances. The class includes discussion of geomembrane seaming and seam peel and shear testing.

  • Reviewing field CQC/CQA procedures

COURSE #2 – CCL & GCL INSTALLATION

This Construction QA/QC for Compacted Clay Liner & GCL Installation focuses on the installation of compacted clay and geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs). Special emphasis will be given to establishing rationale and standard operating procedures for field inspections, documentation of test and visual observations, and implementation of CQA plans. A broad appreciation for the manufacture and installation of containment facility materials will be provided.

 

MoDNR to Host September CQA Week Courses

NOTE: The course content is complementary with the QA / QC of geosynthetic installations course on June 1 and 2. Both courses are designed specifically for those who need a detailed understanding of proper geosynthetica QA / QC procedures at waste containment facilities. When paired, the classes provides ideal preparation for the Geosynthetic Certification Institute’s Inspectors Certification Program (GCI-ICP) exam on June 5.

  • Performing CQC/CQA observations and tests

GEOSYNTHETICS CQA CERTIFICATION

Geosynthetics CQA training students may sit for the Geosynthetic Certification Institute – Inspectors Certification Program (GCI-ICP) exams. All exam-interested students MUST REGISTER with the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI) and pay GSI’s certification fee before the test. TRI does NOT collect this fee. The online exams will begin at 8:00 am on June 5 and end at 12:15 pm. There is a 15-minute break from 10:00 – 10:15 am.
