Presto Geosystems has hosted an on-going series of live webinars on a wide range of civil and geotechnical topics, such as mining, slope stabilization, load support, sustainable landfills, etc. These presentations have been shared by the company on an on-demand basis as well.

Here, we share the presentation on Designing Sustainable Landfills Using the GEOWEB® Geocells. See more presentations and learn about upcoming live opportunities on the company’s webcasts page.

SUSTAINABLE LANDFILLS & GEOCELLS

Landfill design stories often focus on the containment function: geomembranes, geosynthetic clay liners, compacted clay, etc. But many other geosynthetic functions are required in landfill design. Geocells provide a solid solution for meetings these functions and improving a waste facility’s sustainability.

In the presentation, environmental scientist Cory Schneider takes viewers through a range of applications in landfill design (new construction, closure) for which geocell systems are used. These areas include:

  • Slope stabilization and erosion prevention/control
  • Stormwater management
  • Membrane protection
  • Access/haul road construction and maintenance
  • Management of long-term settlement issues at capped cells and closed facilities
