AMI’s Waterproof Membranes conference is back! The next edition will take place 8 – 10 November 2021 at the Pullman Cologne hotel in Cologne, Germany. The single-track, international conference focuses on market dynamics, technical innovations, manufacturing, supply chains, and other matters influencing the success of barrier materials. Presentations address geotechnical and architectural barriers.

The conference begins with an evening reception on November 8 followed by a 2-day program of presentations. This year’s key sessions focus on:

  • Market Trends and Developments
  • Developments in Performance and Durability
  • Creating a Circular Economy
  • Advances in Materials and Technology

WATERPROOF MEMBRANES 2021 – GEOSYNTHETICS & SUSTAINABILITY

Some of the presentations will immediately stand out to geosynthetics professional. Of significance:

  • “A guide to selection from the advanced generation of geomembranes” – Catrin Tarnowski (Solmax)
  • “Durability of EPDM geomembranes: Lifetime estimation by using a high-pressure autoclave test method” – Bernat Amat (Firestone)

Also, the multiple presentations surrounding manufacturing, sustainability, and supply chains are extremely timely. The geosynthetics field has seen some instances of force majeure being invoked this year, with considerable price pressure on essential resins. Furthermore, the field has invested heavily in sustainability, through research, publications, and promotions around the many ways in which geosynthetic materials support sustainability goals.

Waterproof Membranes 2021

At Waterproof Membranes 2021, Georg Harrasser (Carlisle Construction Materials) will present on sustainability and changing climatic conditions; Tomasz Kozlowski (Soba Inter) will speak on sustainable waterproofing of expansion joints; and Bernard Merkx (ESWA) will talk about circularity.

A panel discussion will address how the barrier industry can better contribute to sustainability.

In total, 21 speakers across four sessions are planned.
