The city of Daphne, Alabama received recognition from the Baldwin County Environmental Advisory Board for creating a city position in 2006 for an erosion/sediment control and stormwater specialist. In its annual awards, the Board noted that the city’s dedication to monitoring BMP use, such as silt fence installation and inlet protection, had made a noticeable difference. Positions of this nature are on the increase as municipalities take on more NPDES oversight.
