The Indian Chapter of International Geosynthetics Society, and the Indian Geotechnical Society, Chennai (Madras) Chapter, organized a Workshop on “Retaining Structures with Geosynthetics” on 13 December 2006 at IIT Madras, India, on the eve of Indian Geotechnical Conference 2006 (IGC-2006) on “Geotechnical Engineering – Indian Experience”. IGC – 2006, held from 14-16 December 2006 at IIT Madras. The Workshop was organised to focus on design and construction aspects of retaining structures by drawing international experiences and the limited Indian experience on the subject.

Fifty delegates participated in the workshop. Following were the speakers during the workshop:
