Dorset's Surf Underway

The BBC reports that construction of Europe’s first artificial surf reef is finally set to go in Dorset. The 55 sand-filled geotextile bags will vary in length from 15 to 70 m (50 to 250 ft.) and are expected to create waves of up to 4 m (13 ft.). Funding for the project stems from the sale of seaside land to a developer. Construction begins later this month.
