2 March 2010 – At Geo-Frontiers 2011, a special session will be held on “Soil-Structure-Geosynthetics Interaction.” Session organizers invite abstracts through the overall conference abstract submission deadline: 8 March 2010.
The proposed technical session will include presentations related to the development and application of analysis and design dealing with macro-scale mechanical interaction problems encountered in foundation engineering, underground construction, railroads and pavements, and ground improvement. The session will focus on recent advancements and developments on studies dealing with interaction between the ground, geosynthetics and geo-structures like foundations, buried pipe lines, railroad embankments and underground tunnels. Papers dealing with analytical and numerical modeling, computer simulations and visualization techniques are a priority although papers on well-documented case studies and well-instrumented experimental investigations will also be considered.
Specific topics that will be considered are:
- Analysis of Beams and Plates on Foundations
- Pile-Soil Interaction
- Foundation-Geogrid- Ground Interaction
- Mechanical Response of Ground Modified by Geosynthetics
- Reinforcement-Soil Interaction
- Piled Raft Analysis
- Ground Movement due to Tunneling
- Moving Load Analysis on Pavements and Railroads
- Seismic Soil-Structure Interaction
Session Moderator: Dr. Dipanjan Basu
The session is sponsored by the Computational Geomechanics Committee of the GeoInstitute of ASCE.
PLEASE submit your 200-300 word abstract and future submissions through the Geo-Frontiers 2011 website at:
