Brownfields and Superfund Sites to Produce Renewable Energy

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) are evaluating the feasibility of developing brownfields and Superfund sites for renewable energy production. This could include exposed geomembrane caps with thin-film photovoltaic cells or rigid cells bonded to geomembrane or synthetic grass systems.
