12 August 2009 – TenCate™ Geosynthetics introduces Mirafi® 1450BB specifically designed for unbonded concrete overlay applications. This new, innovative product provides an alternative solution to traditional asphalt bond breaker separation layers.

Mirafi® 1450BB bond breaker is a needle-punched nonwoven geotextile composed of polypropylene fibers, which are formed into a stable network such that the fibers retain their relative position for use as an interlayer for separating cementitious pavement layers. Mirafi® 1450BB bond breaker is inert to biological degradation and resistant to naturally encountered chemicals, alkalis, and acids.

Mirafi® 1450BB can be used on deteriorated pavements showing signs of rutting, fatigue cracking, D-cracking and pavements that have been subjected to Alkali Silica Reaction (ASR). It also results in faster installation and reduced costs over traditional asphalt bond breakers. Ultimately, Mirafi® 1450BB mitigates reflective cracking, promoting longer lasting pavements. Mirafi® 1450BB is “Made in America” in an effort to play a key role in the economic recovery and revitalization of today’s heavy highway construction industry.

The product description sheet and technical data sheet for Mirafi® 1450BB can be viewed and downloaded at www.mirafi.com, in the product and the technical information sections of the website. The product description sheets and sample cards are also available on our online ordering form.

TenCate™ Geosynthetics North America develops and produces materials that increase performance, reduce costs and enable people to achieve what was once unachievable.
