ABOUT GSI-TAIWAN

GSI-Taiwan is an affiliated organization with the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI) and has been since 2000. GSI is based in Folsom, Pennsylvania.

The operation of GSI-Taiwan is closely collaborated with the Geosynthetic Laboratory of National Pingtung Univeristy of Science and Technology (NPUST), Taiwan. The NPUST Geosynthetics Laboratory has been recognized by GAI (Geosynthetic Accreditation Institute) and TAF (Taiwan Accreditation Foundation) as an accredited laoboratory for near one hundred test methods.

GSI-Taiwan provides research, technical consulting, certification, education, and training services to the regional geosynthetic society. Currently, GSI-Taiwan consists of around 20 members. The members include government agencies, consulting firms, designers, geosynthetic manufacturers, distributors, and installers.

GSI-Taiwan has organized an annual conference near the end of each year since 2006. International and local researchers and experts are invited to provide current geosynthetic information, technology, and new findings to the attendees.

Prof. C. Wayne Hsieh is the director of GSI-Taiwan. He can be reached at cwh@mail.npust.edu.tw.
