18 March 2011 – Located throughout the U.S. and in 6 other regions of the world, the Chapters of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) are instrumental in providing the erosion and sediment control community with education and networking opportunities through regional conferences, workshops, field days, newsletters, websites and other services.
The following IECA Chapters were recognized at EC11 this past February in Orlando, FL, through the Partners for Excellence Chapter awards program for providing outstanding service in the areas of member services, Chapter management and education and outreach for the 2010 year. The program offers parallel awards for both Large Chapters, who have more than 200 members and Small Chapters, who have less than 200 members.
The Awards of Distinction are the highest honors awarded to a Chapter. In the Small Chapters category, not only did the Australasian Chapter win the Award of Distinction for the second year in a row, it also won the Chapter Management and the Membership Development/Services Awards of Achievement.
For the Large Chapters, the Rick Granard Award of Distinction went to the Mountain States Chapter (CO, MT, NM, UT, WY). They also won the Membership Development/Services Award of Achievement and an Honorable Mention for the Chapter Management Award of Achievement.
The Northeast Chapter (CT, MA, ME, NH, NY, RI, VT) earned the Education/Outreach Award of Achievement in the Small Chapters category. An Honorable Mention was given to the Mid-Atlantic Chapter (DE, MD, NJ, PA, VA, D.C., WV) in the same category.
The Southeast Chapter (AL, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN) was awarded with the Education/Outreach Award of Achievement in the Large Chapters category. An Honorable Mention was given to the Western Chapter (AZ, CA, HI, NV) in the same category.
The Western Chapter also took home the Chapter Management Award of Achievement and the Most Improved Chapter Award in the Large Chapters category.
The Great Rivers Chapter received an Honorable Mention for the Chapter Management Award of Achievement in the Small Chapters category.
