3 May 2010 – The Anchor Institute (Textile Sector) in the Department of Textile Engineering of the Faculty of Technology & Engineering in the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is organizing a “National level One-Week Up-gradation” program on Geosynthetics from 17-22 May 2010.

The program will address various topics like; Geotextiles – Government Perspective, Overview of Geosynthesis, Manufacturing process of woven geotextile materials, Woven vs nonwoven geotextiles, Function of Geotextiles, Geomembrane, Issue in design and construction of reinforced soil walls, Manufacturing process of nonwoven geotextile fabrics, “Polypropylene based Geosynthesis” — Indian and global scenario, Applications of Jute Geotextile in infrastructure development, Testing of Geotextiles, Geosynthetics in civil engineering application and Geotextiles & its various types.

Among the key persons, who will be delivering enlightening lectures are Dr. Chatterjee, Director, CED, Govt, of Gujarat, Dr. MK Talukdar, Consultant, Kusumgar Textiles, Dr SY Mahaiskar, Principal, SP College of Engg, Mumbai, Prof VK Kothari, IIT Delhi, Shri PK Chaudhury, Project Coordinator JMDC, Kolkata, Ms Rupali Chitnis, Assistant Manager, ATE, Shri V Kannan, Reliance industries, Prof DL Shah, MS University, Shri VK Patil, BTRA, Shri Vijay Satkalmi, Vice-President, Terram Geosynthetics and Shri AB Tewari, Vice-President. Shri Dinesh Mills Ltd.

The main objective of the up-gradation programme is to gather knowledge and to bring together the industry, research organizations and the academic involved in the field of geosynthesis and have meaningful discussions on the existing products, new product, development possibilities, domestic and global market potentials for these products and finally to come up with suitable strategy for the development of geosynthetic fields.

The programme would provide an appropriate platform for both, the Engineers (Textile & Civil) and user industry to interact and exchange view points on adoption of geosynthetics, specific requirements implementation process of manufacturing of these products. The program could prove to be beneficial for technical personnel, consultants and other executives from textile industry / civil related infrastructure industry, officials from various government departments, academicians and interested personal of the related fields.
