GeoAfrica 2013, Second IGS Regional Conference on Geosynthetics in Africa, will be held 18-20 November 2013 in Accra, Ghana. Accra was listed by The New York Times as the #4 place to visit in 2013; and its construction and engineering sector is involved in significant developments in transportation, mining, water and waste management.
The conference organizers have just announced the Keynote Lectures, and each topic taps into the events key themes and the current trend in engineering and environmental management in Ghana:
Abdelmalek Bouazza (Monash University, Australia):
“Geosynthetics in mining applications: What have we learned?”
Kwasi Badu-Tweneboah (Geosyntec Consultants, United States):
“Sustainable Development in Africa – The Role of Geosynthetics”
Alan Parrock (ARQ Consulting Engineers, South Africa):
“Designing cost-effective, geosynthetic-reinforced pavements utilising axi-symmetric finite element analyses.”

The conference will be held under the auspices of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS).
