Bob Mackey, NAGSThe North American Geosynthetics Society (NAGS) has announced the second in its 2014 Webinar Series. On 9 July 2014, Robert Mackey will present “Composite Drainage Nets – Design and Testing.” This webinar follows March 2014’s highly successful webinar from Kerry Rowe on GCLs.
Online education and professional development is one of NAGS’ major initiatives this year, with high-quality presenters and topics lined up. The society’s members are responding favorably.

Registration for the July 9 event is now open.

NOTE: Members of NAGS save USD $200 on registration. Not a member? Join now for $75 and qualify for the $100 Member Rate for the webinar (versus $300 for non-members). NAGS is a chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society. IGS membership is included in NAGS membership.

Drainage Nets and Geocomposites Webinar Information

Drainage Nets and GeocompositesThe development of composite drainage nets (CDNs) (a.k.a. “geocomposites”) has advanced from the initial biaxial nets to tri-axial nets to the current composite drainage products of various geosynthetic materials and structures. The use of CDNs requires a fundamental knowledge of the CDN components and the specifications for those materials.
Landfill CappingThis North American Geosynthetics Society webinar will address the various design, testing and installation issues one must consider with composite drainage nets. Issues include:

  • Various CDNs and their components
  • Transmissivity testing
  • Ply adhesion (geotextile/geonet)
  • Design specifications (cap and leachate collection)
  • Flow pattern considerations
  • Installation issues
  • Reduction factors
  • Construction and historical issues
  • Creep reduction estimates and testing
