PITTSBURGH – Nicholson Construction was recently named the Prime Contractor for the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) slope stabilization project, located alongside Trunk Highway 2 (TH 2).
The goal of the project, which is valued at just over $6 million, is to design and construct an engineering solution that will stabilize the slope failure between Red Lake River and TH 2 in Crookston, Minnesota. Additionally, the scope of the project includes permit coordination, quality management and restoration of the current ground surface condition, instrumentation and a warranty period.
The project will follow the design-build process, which is a more collaborative, streamlined approach to construction that engages designers and contractors earlier than a typical design-bid-build process.

Work will begin in June of 2014 with the geotechnical investigation and is projected to be complete by the Spring/Summer of 2015.
