In April, Geofabrics Australasia and Presto Geosystems are delivering a multi-city engineering seminar on “Solving Soil Stability Problems with GEOWEB®.” The event, which is built on knowledge transfer of 3D confinement system utilization, will be offered in three key cities: Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
Bryan Wedin, P.E., and Matt Kuester will provide the expert instruction.

In announcing the seminar, Geofabrics Australia’s staff noted that the program “discusses technical aspects of the product and design analysis details. It is intended for engineers, contractors and architects who are looking to increase their solution set.”
The Geoweb® 3D confinement system has been used in Australia for load support on soft soils, roadway base stabilization, slope and channel stability, and erosion control.

Seminar Dates and Locations

  • April 13 – Sydney – Engineers Australia (8 Thomas St, Chatswood). RSVP by April 9.
  • April 14 – Melbourne – Novotel St Kilda (16 The Esplanade, St Kilda). RSVP by April 10.
  • April 15 – Brisbane – Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Plaza Level (P5 Room). RSVP by April 13.

Points of Emphasis
In a March 12 column on its website, Geofabrics’ team offers discussion on some of the key points attendees of the seminar should walk away with. Among them:

  • An understanding of the importance of feedstock in the manufacture of the material
    • Impacts material performance, durability, and the achievable consistency in product welding
    • Why this geocellular system only uses virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE) raw materials
  • The role of connection components and why system-specific awareness is the path to safety (rather than using any combination or supplies of rope, staples, bent rebars, and zip ties.
  • Selecting a supplier with a strong portfolio (so that the warranty and experience are optimized in supporting your work)
  • Applicable certifications and tests that 3D confinement system users should be aware of
  • Design and installation support
