Pardis, Iran
The scale of redevelopment in Pardis requires more than 500,000 m2 of geogrid.

Pardis, which is situated on the east side of Tehran, is a fast-growing community of 40,000. Multiple technology, manufacturing, and services businesses have come into the area, and that has prompted a strong demand for new residential structures.
The current phase of development in Pardis is targeting a capacity of 100,000 residents, making this one of the anchors to the eastern development of Tehran.
A challenge to the development, however, is the historical earthquakes in this zone—multiple active faults in the near region—and various other geotechnical conditions.
BUILDING UP PARDIS
To make Pardis’s next phase of growth possible, Manasanat was brought in to design and install an extensive retaining wall system with modular block and gabion facings. They utilized more than 150,000 m2 of PVC-coated geogrids ranging in strengths of 35 – 150 kN/m in the second half of 2014 at the site.
The geogrids were supplied by BECO Germany.
Most of the walls have utilized modular block, but in certain instances a wrap-around facing and galvanized mesh were required. ReSSA and MSEW software was used to help evaluate the geotechnical solution.
Manasanat is still actively working on the long-term development of Pardis. More than 500,000 m2 of geogrid are expected to be use during the extensively engineering works.
A slideshow of images from the site follows.
