A cornerstone of the International Geosynthetics Society’s (IGS) strong growth in recent years has been the active promotion of geosynthetics by the society’s 43 international chapters. The South African chapter—the Geosynthetics Interest Group of South Africa (GIGSA)—is once again making a substantial contribution to the field. The organization has just announced the GIGSA Bursary, a 50,000 Rand (ZAR) education fund (USD $4,100).
The GIGSA Bursary is open to Masters and PhD students studying at a South African University and performing work that is in line with GIGSA’s mission: “…promoting the appropriate use of geosynthetics, advancing geosynthetics knowledge and developing new geosynthetic technologies.”
The chapter’s president, Edoardo Zannoni, issued an invitation to students seeking consideration.
