Burke Industries has long been a leader in chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) geomembranes. The durability of the material has produced service lives in excess of 30 years in containment installations, such as for floating covers and liners on reservoirs. CSPE is a unique material. In a move to continuing focusing on its manufacturing expertise, Burke has announced exclusive, strategic partnerships with two of most experienced installers, fabricators, and contractors in the global geosynthetics industry: Colorado Lining International, Inc. (CLI) and Layfield Environmental Systems Corp (Layfield).
Going forward, distribution and fabrication of all Burke CSPE geomembrane products and systems will be managed by these two companies in the United States and Canada.
“[Manufacturing] is our core area,” said Stephen Roades in the company’s announcement. Roades is the Vice President of Burke Industries’ Liners, Covers & Roofing Division.
“We are deeply focused on quality control, and we are insistent on quality control from manufacture through installation,” he said. “With this agreement, we can focus exclusively on our area—manufacturing—while two of the most trusted and experienced installers and fabricators in the world can oversee that end.”
The agreement does not prevent other third-party companies from working with Burke’s CSPE geomembranes. Burke, however, will no long be involved in direct sales or distribution.
CLI and Layfield are deeply experienced with CSPE installations, including having handled most of the new wave of CSPE use. The durability plus increasing water resource protection concerns have led to multiple new installations of CSPE around the world.
In selecting the two companies for this strategic partnership, Burke also cited their broad, international sales networks.
“No other fabricators and installers have this strong of a vertical network,” said Roades. “We are very happy to continue working with them.”
The three companies will jointly work to support and grow the CSPE marketplace, including exchanging knowledge on raw material management, training programs, material handling, installation, and more.
