Maccaferri, Inc., one of the largest engineered materials companies in geohazards and geosynthetics, is adding a Technical Sales Representative or Sales Engineer to support its Geohazard Business Unit. This individual will be responsible for creating favorable specifications with local agencies and civil/ geotechnical consultants. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for driving commercial activity and generating sales with contractors and distributor partners. The candidate should reside near a west coast airport and support the Western USA and Canada Markets.

Primary Responsibilities & Characteristics

  • Self-starting, problem solving Technical Sales Professional
  • Independently perform daily marketing functions to stimulate sales pipeline development
  • Conduct commercial sales activity including project tracking, bidding, quoting, closing, and servicing
  • Provide technical presentations and instruction to various industry partners
  • Interpret civil engineering plans and specifications, conduct preliminary take-offs and apply our solutions accordingly
  • Create and execute a strategic business plan that identifies priority opportunities based on market conditions
  • Promote the best possible customer experience to grow customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Responsible for territory profitability and financial success
  • Address and resolve claims, disputes, back charges, and credit issues responsibly and professionally
  • Penetrate various markets including highway, commercial/residential, mining, rail, military, etc., to increase sales and expand corporate recognition
  • Strive to become an Expert Resource through continuous development and experience related to our products, the industry we serve and associated trends
  • Submit thought-based sales and order forecasts

Qualifications

  • Mining or Geology Engineering or related engineering (BS+)
  • Experience preferred (5+ years)
  • Familiar with standard engineering documentation and processes
  • Independently motivated and also excels in team environments
  • Demonstrate a record of long-term commitment
  • Extensive “local” travel with sporadic over-nights required
  • Valid driver’s license
