VIII CICES (Cartegena 2016) - IECA Iberoamerica Cartegena 2016 - VIII CICESCartagena 2016 (VIII CICES – Congreso Iberoamericano de Control de Erosion) will be held 14 – 17 August 2016 in Cartagena, Colombia. It is the 8th IberoAmerican Congress on Erosion Control and organized by the IberoAmerican Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA Region 1).
The theme of VIII CICES is “Embracing the Soil.”
The event aims to raise awareness of the importance to protect, repair, and stabilize the environment to the benefit of soils and water.
Short courses and conference session will cover the latest research and developments regarding soil and water protection, monitoring, and remediation; erosion and sediment control technologies; stormwater management; and much more.

CARTAGENA 2016 HIGHLIGHTS

The short course offerings at Cartagena 2016 include 9 sessions, with topics such as soil bioengineering, sediment retention structures, landscape conservation, and rural (low volume) road design.
The technical sessions will focus on case studies from within the last five years and research with clear results to report, giving congress participants strong, immediately implementable takeaways to advance the state of practice.
Going deeper than the theme, attendees will find a broad range of sectors addressed in the work:

  • Infrastructure (railways, ports, road building)
  • Climate change and sustainability
  • Mining, oil, gas, and energy
