Tensar’s “Keeping You in the Know” video series is a Q&A influenced campaign. In the first video, Senior Product Manager Jonathan Cook (Tensar International Limited) addresses questions on tensile strength and its relevance to certain designs. His response may surprise some.

“[Tensile strength] is not relevant when the geogrid is used in the design of roads and temporary working platforms,” he says. “In these cases, the tensile strength of the product has proven to a poor indicator of the performance.”
The tensile value is unimportant when the TriAx geogrid is included in the granular layer, he notes.
“It’s the interaction with the fill itself, known as ‘the stabilization effect,’ that is important.”
