When International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) members gathered in Delhi, India this month for the 6th Asian Regional Conference on Geosynthetics, they met the IGS’s new Secretariat Manager: Terry-Ann Paulo. She takes over the role from Diana Davis, who has held the position since August 2010 and who is retiring November 18.

Paulo brings a strong background to the role, including significant experience with associations and committee-based organizations. She worked for the National Pork Producers Council for four years, a job which gave her committee management duties, including with political action. She also managed fundraising events and receptions. Most recently, Paulo worked for the Florida House of Representatives as a representative’s aide, working with committees, budgets, public relations, lobbyists, social media, and a variety of other tasks.
Outside of work, Paulo is a Board of Directors for the Florida Red Cross and Big Brothers & Sisters, as well as a member of the Ft. Pierce Rotary Club.
“Terry is enthusiastic about helping the IGS committees and working groups continue to evolve,” the IGS noted in a statement. “Her strengths in communication and organization are sure to provide the IGS’s volunteers with excellent resources, so that they may focus on creating technical and educational content for the various IGS initiatives.”

SIGNIFICANT IGS GROWTH
The IGS, in its correspondence to its membership on Terry-Ann Paulo’s appointment, acknowledged Diana Davis’s many years of contributions. Her six-year tenure was one of significant growth in individual, corporate, and student membership. It also saw a surge in chapter activities and chapter establishment, all of which kept the Secretariat Manager office buzzing.
“The contributions of Diana Davis cannot be overlooked,” the IGS wrote. “The society will dearly miss her smiling face and outstanding service.”
