Raven Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ:RAVN) is expanding its fabrication services eastward. The company has announced a site in Waynesboro, Virginia. The new location supports Raven’s Engineered Films Division in providing faster product delivery and more comprehensive service to the company’s growing East Coast portfolio of customers in energy, geosynthetic containment, and construction.

The Waynesboro location will offer custom fabrication and strategically warehoused products.

RAVEN FABRICATION SERVICES

Raven Engineered Films Division is one of the well-known manufacturers of geomembranes, with key brands such as 7-layer ABSOLUTE BARRIER® geomembranes (with its enhanced EVOH gas-barrier layer), DURA-SKRIM®, and VAPORBLOCK®.

The expansion of fabrication services fits the company’s long-standing, steady advance of its expertise and capabilities. Exemplifying these moves, Raven acquired Colorado Lining International a couple years ago to create Raven CLI Construction, Inc., which has enabled the company to provide custom fabrication services, geosynthetic design-build expertise, and certified installation services.

In another key move, the company announced in November 2019 that a signature piece of its strategic growth plan would be Raven Composites™, part of the Engineered Films Division.

“By leveraging our reinforced materials expertise,” the company wrote, “Engineered Films will innovate solutions that deliver thinner, lighter and stronger composites within the transportation, construction, automotive and packaging markets. These composites will be attractive alternatives to existing materials such as wood, metal and thicker plastics, as they will significantly reduce weight while improving appearance, strength, durability and lifecycle.”

The expansion of fabrication services to the US East Coast complements this strategic plan.

“We are committed to our core business and customers,” says Anthony Schmidt, VP and General Manager of Raven Engineered Films. “Having a presence on the East Coast will allow us to respond more efficiently to the needs of our customers.”

The company was drawn to Waynesboro due to its strong history of manufacturing and its proximity to the Appalachian Basin, major shipping and transportation hubs, and port access.

The Waynesboro facility will be operational in early 2020.
