Washington D.C. – American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) President and Michigan State Transportation Director Kirk Steudle, will deliver the keynote address at the 11th Annual IRF Awards Luncheon on January 24, 2012, organizers announced today.
The IRF Annual Awards Luncheon will recognize the 2011 award winners of the Global Road Achievement Awards (GRAA), a worldwide competition to recognize excellence, innovation, and exceptional achievement across essential areas of the road industry. The program elicits information on successful projects from leading organizations and provides a tangible illustration of best practices and new technologies at work.
This year’s Awards will recognize nine projects ranging from Quality Management oversight systems to local road safety awareness-raising programs and new highway connections with wide-ranging socio-economic impacts, all of which illustrate the road industry’s commitment to quality and innovation.
“Much of what road builders do is lost or forgotten by the hundreds of millions of people who benefit so greatly from the work of the road development industry” noted IRF Washington Chairman Abdullah A. Al-Mogbel. “This is precisely why IRF’s Global Road Achievement Awards provide a rare opportunity to celebrate our industry’s successes and highlight how our work helps achieve broader development goals.”
The Annual Awards Luncheon is expected to draw hundreds of high-level government officials, top executives, and other transportation professionals.
