The International Geosynthetics Society Australasian Chapter (ACIGS) will host a multi-city seminar series on drainage geocomposite systems. The seminar will be held in Melbourne on November 27, Sydney on November 28, and Brisbane on November 29.
In announcing the series, ACIGS writes:
In response to the increasing use of drainage geocomposites systems as a drainage solution and the increasingly complex GCD design requirements, ACIGS are offering a half-day introduction to GCD seminars including a panel discussion with leading industry experts concluding with a networking lunch.

DRAINAGE GEOCOMPOSITE SYSTEMS SEMINAR CONTENT
The half-day seminar technical content has been developed by Fred Gassner (Golder Associates), Adrian Roberts (GHD), and Nigel Ruxton (Golder Associates). Each of these experts will present at one of the seminar sites. Additionally, TRI Environmental’s Warren Hornsey will provide state-of-practice insight on the industry, best practices, and testing methods for quality assurance strategy.
Highlights of the drainage geocomposite systems seminar will include:
- GCDs vs. conventional drainage methods in landfill and containment applications
- Selecting and understanding GCD parameters
- Design with a safety factor and performance
- Interpreting technical data
- Understanding test frequencies
- Construction quality assurance
- Case studies
- Panel discussion
