The 15,000 member Transportation and Development Institute (TDI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has announced its First Congress will be held 13-16 March 2011 in Chicago. The theme will be “Integrated Transportation and Development for a Better Tomorrow.” The Congress will bring together transportation and development researchers, engineers, planners, designers, project managers, construction managers and contractors from around the world to discuss integrated strategies focusing on smart development and efficient multi-modal movement of people and goods to support the economic pulse of our nation and the world.
Abstract submissions are invited through 20 April 2010. Five concurrent paper/presentation tracks, a technical tour and pre/post Congress workshops are planned. The primary tracks are:
- Transportation Operations & Safety
- Pavements and Transportation Materials
- Advanced Technologies and Infrastructure Systems
- Airport Planning & Design
- Smart Development and Sustainability
The technical tour will consist of a guided tour of a transportation facility and /or development district or project consistent with the theme of the Congress such as the O’Hare International Airport.
Prof. Imad Al-Qadi (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) and Scott Murrell (Port Authority of NY and NJ) are serving as conference co-chairs.
