From November 29 through December 6, Global Synthetics is sponsoring a multi-city seminar series in Australia on “Geosynthetics in Paved and Unpaved Roads.” Dr. Steve Perkins, P.E. (Montana State University) and Jorg Klompmaker (BBG, Germany) have been announced as the independent experts to speak at the event.

In the event brochure, the organizers note, “The largest world market for [reinforcement geosynthetics] is in applications of pavement support. [However, there] is very little guidance in the design and specification of these products in Australia.”
Perkins and Klompmaker will focus on the proper design and utilization of geogrid and composite reinforcement solutions in roads, including how reinforcement geosynthetics can:
- Beneficially impact road depth, reduce aggregate requirements, etc.
- Improve road service lives
Reduce long-term maintenance costs and potential upfront costs (such as enabling short, more efficient construction and decreasing aggregate)- Provide greater environmental credit
A review of international research findings, case studies, specification, and more are part of the seminar.
