24 September 2009 – Geomembrane Technologies Inc. (GTI) has finished a project for a large cheese and butter plant in the state of Victoria, Australia, again demonstrating GTI’s strength in successfully completing world-wide projects. The dairy processor turned to GTI’s experts to design, fabricate and supervise the installation of an odor control cover for an additional lagoon required at an existing wastewater treatment system. The plant required odor control, due to its strong wastewater flow as part of its wastewater treatment system.
GTI’s engineers designed the 44 x 88m (144 x 288 ft) cover to be removable for periodic maintenance and inspection, and to support the weight of waste influent pipes. The cover system also features the capability of collecting biogas for use to offset energy costs. It functions effectively with or without an off-gas removal system.
The cover consists of 47 panels arranged in eight sections. Each panel can be removed independently to access the lagoon for inspection and maintenance. The cover is stable, even in strong winds, and sheds rainwater automatically. GTI personnel also have provided complete on-site training for operating personnel. Geomembrane Technologies Inc. is a world-leader in providing innovative, durable custom membrane cover systems. GTI designs, fabricates, installs and maintains complete cover systems for sites around the world. Projects include floating, structurally supported, and gas handling systems for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants.
GTI also offers potable water covers.
