The 36-year-old, low-level nuclear garbage landfill is slated for closure in one year’s time. Rep. W.D. “Bill” Witherspoon, R-Horry, Chair of the House Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs Committee, along with Energy Solutions, Inc. are trying to extend the life of the landfill.
