At the renowned Biosphere 2 research installation at the University of Arizona, geomembrane and synthetic turf systems are being tested on slopes. The exposed membranes have rigid solar panel units mounted on them. Project researchers hope to see systems like this appear on landfill caps and side slopes and near mine tailings.
