KaytechThe African geosynthetics industry, and particularly South Africa’s experts, took center stage last September during GeoAfrica 2009, which was the first African regional conference on geosynthetics. One of that region’s main players is South Africa-based Kaytech, a wide-ranging manufacturer and distributor of materials for road construction and maintenance, drainage and filtration, erosion control, waterproofing, separation and reinforcement.

Kaytech is growing steadily in the international market, both from its headquarters and through expanding its involvement elsewhere.

KaytechIn July 2009, the company began the process of taking sole ownership of Geofabrics Australasia Pty Ltd, Cheltenham, Australia. Previously, Kaytech and the Netherlands-based Royal Ten Cate jointly owned Geofabrics. Kaytech has now completed the acquisition of Royal Ten Cate’s 50% share.

Geofabrics Australasia has a strong presence in Australia, New Zealand and the broader Oceania region. Like Kaytech, the company provides a broad-range of products and expertise for civil and environmental engineering.

Also, as of 1 March 2010, Kaytech is the southern Africa distributor of Tensar‘s award-winning TriAx Geogrid product. TriAx utilizes the multi-directional properties of triangular geometry to provide a new level of in-plane, radial stiffness. It even outperforms the well-known Tensar BX Geogrid reinforcement.

Kaytech will also distribute some other Tensar products in this new agreement.
