The 2010 edition of the Techtextil North America Symposium will be held 18-20 May 2010 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The Symposium will have the theme "Moving Forward – Innovation and Technology drive the Future" and will run concurrent with the annual Techtextil North America exhibition.

Organizers have announced the event will be co-located with ATME-I/MEGATEX and SPESA Expo. The three events will take place under the umbrella name of the Textile and Sewn Products Industry Week (TaSPI). All three shows will take place in adjacent halls during the same dates. Attendees will be able to move freely between the individual shows and benefit from the industry-leading educational and networking seminars and special events all in the same venue.

This co-location will offer speakers a potentially new audience and exposure to new industries. As always, the timing of the 2010 edition will be such that participants will have ample time to walk the exhibition floor. Multi-track sessions will feature technical and application specific presentations relevant to the industry and the symposium theme.

Papers are especially solicited in the following areas, with emphasis on work that will impact the industry, short term as well as the future:

  • Extreme fibers, fabrics, materials and technology for special applications
  • Composites – involving high performance fibers/fabrics
  • Nanotechnology in technical textiles – with emphasis on potential and real world applications
  • Smart/intelligent coatings, nonwovens, and other materials
  • Future materials – what, when, and how technical textiles will impact the industry
  • Green technology involving technical textiles

Consideration will be given preference to those papers relating to:

  • New development and technology in all fiber/fabric forms
  • Innovations in materials, processes, or manufacturing techniques
  • Developing products and applications for technical textiles
  • Technical textiles research that may impact the industry
  • Markets (existing or emerging), industry issues (trade and others), trends, etc.
  • Relevance to practical applications and short to medium term adoption

Selection of the papers to be presented will be based on abstracts of 300-500 words. Authors should emphasize new and significant findings/developments. Though we have not yet set aside provisions for poster sessions, ideas for poster presentations related to technical textiles are also welcome.

Abstracts are due by 9 August 2009.
