TenCate Geosynthetics introduces Debris Shield technology for TenCate Geotube® containers

0
TenCate Geosynthetics Americas has developed a patent pending innovation that provides extra impact resistance to TenCate Geotube® containers that help protect shorelines, rebuild beaches and reclaim land from bodies of water. The Debris Shield of TenCate Geosynthetics is a specially engineered composite geotextile providing impact resistance by dissipating energy from an impact force from water-carried debris. This new technology provides additional protection against vandalism, UV radiation and abrasion. The Debris Shield will protect TenCate Geotube® containers and thereby extend their useful service life.

Does EC Make a Difference?

0
While the term "best management practice" (or, BMP) may be misleading, especially since agencies from town to town may disagree on which BMPs are acceptable--that is, which are actually "best"--erosion control is clearly of need. You can see this on a very large scale around Las Vegas. The Review Journal looks back at 10 years of major erosion control and bank stabilization projects and how sediment loads have been reduced by 75%, 38,000 native plants have returned, more than 100 species have returned, and much more. The Biotic Earth blog has posted a nice update from a critical erosion control project performed at the Milner Ridge wastewater facility in Manitoba, Canada. The work was part of stabilizing the soils around the wastewater ponds, the slopes for which were in jeopardy of failure from erosion. A combination of erosion control blankets and biotic-enriched hydromulch was used. One year later, the site is showing tremendous signs of success; as is this combination approach to erosion control in cold climates. Learn more here.;
