TenCate appoints ir. Guido Vliegen as Global Group Director TenCate Grass

The Executive Board of Royal Ten Cate (TenCate) has appointed ir. Guido Vliegen (44) as Global Group Director TenCate Grass, effective 1 April 2011. Since 1998, Mr Vliegen has held several management positions at TenCate Protective Fabrics EMEA (Nijverdal, the Netherlands) and North America (Atlanta, US). In January 2009 Mr Vliegen was appointed as Managing Director of TenCate Grass North America based in Dayton (Tennesee, US). Since October 2009 Mr Vliegen was responsible for the marketing and sales of synthetic turf as Global Commercial Director TenCate Grass. In his new position Mr Vliegen will be responsible for all TenCate Grass activities worldwide and will be a member of the TenCate Strategic Platform.

D35 on GCL Swell Index

ASTM Committee D35 on Geosynthetics has revised D5890, "Standard Test Method for Swell Index of Clay Mineral Component of Geosynthetic Clay Liners." This test method covers an index method that enables the evaluation of swelling properties of a clay mineral in reagent water for estimation of its usefulness for permeability or hydraulic conductivity reduction in geosynthetic clay liners (GCL). It is adapted from United States Pharmacopeia (USP) test method for bentonite. Learn more here.;

EPA to Host Brownfields Workshops for 2011 Grant Competition

EPA will host a series of four free workshops during April and May in the four states of Region 7 for representatives of eligible participant groups in the 2011 Brownfields grant competition. Each half-day workshop will cover the basics of submitting a proposal to the EPA Brownfields Program and offer guidance for improving the quality of a proposal. The workshop will explain the different types of EPA Brownfields grants, who may apply for them, how the grant application process works, and tips for writing good grant applications.
