One source said that Electra Private Equity was in advanced negotiations to sell Tensar [International]. The source said that Tensar, which manufactures soil reinforcement and ground stabilisation products for the construction industries, could be sold for up to £80m. It is thought the mystery buyer is already carrying out due dilligence on the business."

In this two-part article, Alain Hérault, Sabihi Abdelhak, and Chakib El Iraki write on the new French standard NF P 94-270 and how it establishes design rules for the use of geosynthetics and other reinforcing materials in reinforced earth walls and steep slope applications. The 9th International Conference on Geosynthetics (9ICG) Brazil - 2010 will provide an opportunity to learn about and discuss highly technical and scientific geosynthetics issues and their solutions. A primary objective of the conference is to present the most recent developments, improvements and new technologies from the international geosynthetics community. Plastics Today has published its polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) spot price report. They found PE up $0.04/lb last week, a trend "driven by soaring monomer costs and pointing to higher contract resin prices in February." Ethylene shortages have played a role. Similarly, PP spot prices were up $0.02/lb last week. The rise in monomers shows "no abatement" at this point, especially since PP manufacturers have successfully passed along some recent cost increases. Learn more here.;
