31 July 2009 – Checkmate Geosynthetics Inc. is pleased to launch the Trigrid EX bi-axial geogrid range in addition to the existing Checkmate’s product line in North America. Trigrid EX biaxial geogrids are manufactured by Samyang Corporation Korea and represented on Exclusive basis by Checkmate in North America. Checkmate will also provide the comprehensive technical and design support to the customers.
Brad Stuart, president of Checkmate says, “We want to make vital contributions in taking the geosynthetics industry to the next level by crafting more flexible and state of arts geosynthetics solutions that are very competitive, user friendly, technically advanced and suits the local conditions. Trigrid is positioned in the North American market to be a highly competitive biaxial geogrid and also exceed the performance specifications of the competition. Trigrid products will also be available at Checkmate’s distribution centers throughout North America.”
Sam Bhat, vice president of business development, says, “Trigrid EX represents the very latest in the bi-axial geogrid technology. Trigrid EX is made of fiber-reinforced polymer strips. It utilizes the high strength and high tenacity polyester (PET) in conjunction with polypropylene (PP), thus creating an interlocked geogrid structure, resulting in higher stiffness and higher flexural rigidity of the Trigrid EX bi-axial geogrid. This EX series is specifically designed for improved performance in soil stabilization, base reinforcement and soil reinforcement applications. This advanced combination of PP and PET materials in constructing the Trigrid also results in excellent creep and installation damage resistance and provides high long term durability.”
- High tension at low strains (higher stiffness)
- High flexural rigidity
- Very low ‘creep’ deformation (due to utilizing high-strength and high-tenacity PET in conjunction with PP)
- Excellent resistance to installation damage
- Mechanical, chemical and UV stability
- Dimensional stability
Application Benefits (Base Reinforcement and Foundation Engineering)
- Savings in granular thickness up to 40% with no performance loss.
- Control of differential settlement
- Spanning of voids
- Increased design life and higher TBR (Traffic Benefit Ratio)
- Reduce disturbance and weakening of sensitive sub- grade formations
- Improved fill confinement and fill compaction
- Reduces the rate of permanent settlement
- Reduces elastic deflections and maintenance frequency for Railway Track ballast reinforcement over soft sub-grade
