When EuroGeo 2016 opens in Ljubljana, Slovenia this month, Concrete Canvas® will showcase its new barrier material: CC Hydro™. The product features a chemically resistant geomembrane backing.

Concrete Canvas® is a Silver Sponsor of the September 25 – 28 event. Nick Kastoumis will present a paper on this new class of containment materials: GCCMs (Geosynthetic Cementious Concrete Mats).

A CHEMICALLY RESISTANT GEOMEMBRANE ON CC HYDRO™

CC Hydro™, like the original Concrete Canvas® GCCM, consists of a concrete-impregnated fabric that hardens on hydration to form a fibre-reinforced concrete layer. The company’s GCCM technology has earned awards, such as the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation. With CC Hydro™, the concrete-impregnated fabric technology is combined with a chemically resistant geomembrane liner.
The blue geomembrane serves as a backing.
The result, the company notes, is the world’s first all-in-one armoured containment liner, combining excellent impermeability with the durability and puncture resistance of concrete.
CC Hydro™ is already being used for secondary containment bund lining projects in the UK, with the first international installs scheduled to start next month.
The hard-wearing cover of the new barrier enables it to remain exposed in service, thus eliminating construction stages for soil cover. It saves time and money for project stakeholders.
GCCMs are increasingly replacing conventional concrete for a wide range of erosion control applications such as lining water channels, protecting slopes and remediating old concrete.  CC Hydro™ provides a means for these materials to now also be used in containment projects.

INTERNATIONAL USE OF GCCMs

Internationally, Concrete Canvas® materials are growing in adaptation. Mines in Brazil are using it for water storage and related containment applications; Australia’s LNG sector is using GCCMs for surface water management; and many other applications, such as secondary containment and irrigation, are gravitating towards this containment solution in India, the UAE, Italy, the United States, and elsewhere.
Concrete Canvas® will be at a number of shows in various countries in the near future. Learn from or meet with the developers of chemically resistant geomembrane on GCCMs (CC Hydro™) and related materials  at:
