The next short course from the Fabricated Geomembrane Institute (FGI) will be held 14 May 2010 at the University of Florida’s TREEO Center in Orlando. The FGI held its first short course on “Constructing with Fabricated Geomembranes” in October 2009 in Denver. That event was well-received and -attended and featured speakers from across the industry.
Participants of this next edition of “Constructing with Fabricated Geomembranes” will be eligible to receive up to 8 CEUs.
The event will cover design, specification and construction issues for a broad range of applications: wastewater ponds; floating covers for reservoirs; water canals; secondary containment; decorative ponds; and potable water.
The central topics affecting these applications and which the day-long session’s speakers will explore include:
- FGI Introduction, Activities, and Research Results
- Fabricated Geomembranes versus “Rolled” Goods
- Manufacturing Fabricated Geomembranes
- Fabrication and Installation
- Leak Location with Fabricated Geomembranes
- Welding and Testing Demonstration
- Slope Stability and Interface Strengths
- Design and Construction of Floating Covers and Potable Water
- Design and Construction of Wastewater Ponds
- Canals, Decorative and Irrigation
The expected speakers are Timothy D. Stark, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Sam Allen, Vice President, TRI/Environmental Inc.; Rodney Carriker, Marketing Manager, Lange Containment Company; Chris Eichelberger, Project Manager, American Environmental Group, Ltd.; Bryant Jefferson, Project Manager, Colorado Lining International; Gary Kolbasuk, Technical Director, Raven Industries; Daren Laine, President, Leak Location Survey Inc.; Andrew MIlls, Technical Director, Layfield Group; Ian Peggs, President, I-Corp.
