The energy continues to flow from Solmax’s international headquarters near Montreal. The company acquired the Houston-based assets of the former Brawler Industries, providing even more efficient service to key markets in the US. Now, it has announced the availability of a cost-controlling, bespoke service: customized geomembranes.
Further, the company has launched a new website with tools such as a spec sheet generator to provide site visitors with more personalized project planning support.
CUSTOMIZED GEOMEMBRANES
In announcing its bespoke lining system service, Solmax noted that it is the first international manufacturer to offer customized geomembranes. The value-added, free service is part of the company’s Cost Reduction Program.

“This program has been successfully used to reduce geomembrane liner material costs by up to 33% by reducing the thickness of the geomembrane liner that had been specified and consequently reducing the amount of plastic used in the material production without compromising the required field performance of the liner,” the company writes.
To identify this potential, Solmax conducts performance testing of qualified liner materials at no cost to the client. Puncture resistance, chemical resistance, interface shear friction, and other characteristics are evaluated against the true project needs.
Test results help identify the best liner for the work.
“This innovative science-backed approach to geomembrane manufacturing eliminates the risks with one-size-fits-all geomembrane liners on project sites,” Solmax writes. “A one-size-fits-all approach involves making guesses about material performance and taking risks that could result in increased cost of materials, environmental liabilities from unsafe designs, and poor material performance, material wastage, and more plastic material eventually ending up in landfills.”
Solmax’s customized geomembranes program supports its geosynthetics work in more than 60 countries.

The redesigned website features user experience-enhancing resources, such as a Technical Library, Technical Data Sheet Generator, drop-in specifications, and videos. It also includes documents on Solmax’s geomembranes and affiliated engineering expertise in mining, waste management, energy, water resources, and other important geomembrane markets.
“The website has been designed using the latest technology so the site is compatible with today’s browsers and mobile devices – without the need for Adobe® Flash to view it,” the company writes. “Furthermore, Solmax is proud to introduce a first in the industry: the new Technical Data Sheet Generator, which allows its visitor to view and download up-to-date technical data sheets.”
