The International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) Technical Committee on Barriers (TC-B), in partnership with the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI), has launched a database to track global guidelines and regulations that govern and affect geosynthetic barrier applications. The project focuses on 12 sectors right now:
- Landfills
- Hydraulic Engineering
- Mining
- Coal Ash
- Railways
- Road Construction
- Groundwater Protection
- Soil Encapsulation
- Waterproofing
- Tank Farms
- Storage Ponds
- Stormwater Retention

DATABASE OF REGULATIONS & GUIDELINES
The barrier regulations database has been designed to be quite user-friendly and the organizers from the IGS TC-B and GSI note that expansion of the sectors targeted in the project is possible. The field’s international input, though, is essential.

How to participate:
- Visit the database and contribute
- The simple system will collect details including name, the relevant application, country of the regulation, name of guideline, and link to guideline (preferred) or document to upload if a link is unavailable.
- Share the project with your colleagues!
