22 February 2010 – To drive growth for the DuPont™ Typar® physical vapor deposition (PVD) business in Vietnam, DuPont Building Innovations and its strategic customer, DAEHAN i.m., recently organized a seminar, held in Ho Chi Minh City. Seminar attendees included 150 project owners, civil engineers and contractors.

Seminar topics included soft-soil improvement techniques, DuPont™ Typar® for PVD filters and DAEHAN i.m.’s PVD products. Eun-Chul Shin, professor and chairman of the Korea Geosynthetics Society (KGS), introduced a variety of soft-soil improvement techniques that have been applied in Korea, and cited the PVD technique as the proven, most economical method. Because Vietnam is predominately wetland, soft-soil improvement is essential for successful infrastructure development.

Romain Diederich, DuPont Luxembourg technical marketing, noted that Typar® is the ultimate choice for PVD filters with its optimum balance of hydraulic and mechanical properties.

“We have found immense business potential in Vietnam for DuPont™ Typar® PVD end-use and have developed business programs to generate sales with our strategic partner, DAEHAN i.m., the world’s biggest PVD manufacturer located in Korea,” said Jerry Lee, DuPont Asia Pacific (AP) regional Typar® demand planning manager. “This seminar is the first marketing approach used to drive growth in this emerging market, and it will help accelerate Typar® sales in Vietnam.”

After the seminar, KGS (Korea Geotechnical Society) and VSSMGE (Vietnam Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to promote and enlarge the exchange of technical, scientific, professional and organizational knowledge to better serve the interests and welfare of their members, the engineering profession in general, and the public in both countries.
