EDANABELGIUM, 27 June 2011 – EDANA, the association serving the nonwovens and related industries, today announced its new Board of Governors for 2011-2012. Returning Chairman Jean-Marie Becker (Ahlstrom) will again provide leadership on the Board, supported by vice-Chairpersons with the newly appointed Patricia Featherstone (RKW), and the returning Gerd Ries (Johnson & Johnson). Paul Eevers (Unilever) was re-elected as Treasurer for another term.

Continuing the tradition to give a voice and presence to companies that represent the breadth of the nonwovens and related industries, Becker welcomed five new members to the Board; Mr Eric De Kesel (Mölnlycke Health Care), Mr Martin Rapp (Glatfelter), Mr Ali Sisman (Hassan Group), Mr Jelle Westerterp (PGI Nonwovens), and welcomed the return of Mr Pieter Meijer (McAirlaid’s).

Becker also gave thanks to the outgoing members of the Board, including Ms. Susan Harley (CareFusion), Mr. Serkan Gogüs (Mogul Nonwovens), Mr. Michael Haddon (TWE Nonwovens), and to Mr. Josef Schmidtbauer (Lenzing) who has stepped down as Vice-Chairman, re-joining the Board at large. In his thanks, Becker identified the work undertaken by all Governors over the past 12 months to support the development of the Nonwovens Vision 2020 report and scenarios, which provide considerable value to member companies in their plans and strategy for the future.

Outlining his vision, Becker reaffirmed his support for the Association’s activities on behalf of and for the nonwovens industry, across all sectors and to multiple points across the value chain. “The work undertaken by the EDANA staff and its committees and working groups is essential to the ongoing development of our industry, and to our success. This is particularly important as we look towards the next decade, and how our industry must innovate to meet any challenges, and take advantage of all available opportunities.”

In welcoming the new Board, Pierre Wiertz, General Manager of EDANA said, “The foundation the Board provides to ensure the work EDANA does on behalf of the industry is vital. By ensuring a strong and varied Board of Governors, EDANA has the security of drawing on many years of experience across not only all parts of our broad industry, but across multiple regions. The reaffirmation of our Board is a powerful reminder that our activities meet not only our members’ expectations, but also the broader industry’s requirements well into the future.”
