The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) may soon take steps to declare coal ash a hazardous waste and force producers of coal ash to set aside money during operations as a check against future cleanup needs. The cost to taxpayers is quite high, as of now. EPA is looking to shift the environmental protection cost to the industries producing the danger.
