Environmental Specialties International (ESI), the largest contracted installer and provider of geosynthetic lining materials in the United States, is getting bigger. The company announced in late June the acquisition of Patriot Environmental of Meeker, Oklahoma. Patriot extends ESI’s footprint in the booming oil and gas exploration and production industry in Texas and Oklahoma.
Patriot was found in 2012 with a focus on these markets and quickly established its position as a specialty contractor for oil and gas applications.
ESI ON ACQUIRING PATRIOT ENVIRONMENTAL

Cody Smithson, Patriot’s Founder and President, echoed the culture fit sentiment and noted that Patriot had been approached multiple times over the years about combining with another company. ESI turned out to be the right one.

CRITICAL CONTAINMENT EXPERTISE
Patriot has worked extensively in containment applications for horizontal fracking operations in water-scarce environments. These pits and impoundments manage water for oil and gas exploration and production, whether using freshwater or recycling produced water. Geosynthetic lining systems provide leak protection for these engineered systems. Geosynthetics also secure reserve pits and provide secondary containment. HDPE piping systems are used for the conveyance of the water supporting production.
Both ESI and Patriot are deeply experienced with these polymeric systems for improving oil and gas ROI and environmental performance.
