The International Erosion Control Association‘s (IECA) Environmental Connection (EC10) conference is just around the corner. The event will be held 16-20 February 2010 in Dallas, Texas. It’s the biggest erosion control gathering, from exhibit hall to keynotes, short courses to sessions. For those interested in full-day courses that offer up to 6 PDHs, a number of opportunities are available. For example: “Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ) Exam Review Course” and “How to Write and Implement a SWPPP to Meet NPDES Compliance.”
The Geosynthetic Materials Association (GMA) will hold its next GMA Lobby Day gatherings March 1 and 2 in Washington DC. This year’s meetings will include a joint dinner with the United States Industrial Fabric Institute (USIFI). Also, members of GMA and GMA’s lobbying team will meet with key legislation figures and influencers. Hot topics will include coal ash disposal regulation; the Transportation Re-authorization Bill; federal funding of geosynthetic research at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and funding of a geosynthetic separation study: “Quantifying life cycle cost-benefits of pavements incorporating geotextile separators.”
The 2010 installment of the LatAm Mining Congress will take place 27-30 April 2010 in Coral Gables, Florida. Visit the conference website now to see the program. Highlights include foreign demands; partnerships; country profile sessions on Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay and the Andean Region; project developments; sustainability; expansion; and more.

Approximately 25% of the 2008 participants were from outside the United States. Hot topics for the 2010 GWMS include: facility design, climate change, leachate management, waste containment, energy recovery and much more.
