This is the 3rd African Regional Conference on Geosynthetics, following installments in South Africa (2009) and Ghana (2013). It will be held under the auspices of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) and hosted and organized by the IGS Moroccan Chapter.
The event offers an exceptional opportunity for geosynthetics-related engineering and construction professionals to discuss and get more involved in Africa’s growing infrastructure.
NOTE: The hotel venue for the event has changed since the conference’s last update (October). The new venue is noted towards the end of this article.
GEOAFRICA 2017 MAJOR TOPICS
Organizers are particularly keen to find geosynthetic solutions to water scarcity, poor availability of suitable soils for various constructions, inadequate infrastructures, and flooding. With that in mind, they’ve noted the following list of relevant subjects for authors to consider, though they also emphasize they are open to more areas of geosynthetics discussion:
- Use in hydraulic structures
- Use in infrastructure projects
- Use in agricultural projects
- Waste Management
- Coastal Protection
- Soil Reinforcement
- Environmental protection
