Geofabrics Australasia

Geofabrics AustralasiaThe March 2013 issue of Geofabrics Journal profiles separation geotextiles, erosion control, and revegetation during Victoria’s (Australia) key Peninsula Link project. Also of importance in the issue are articles on slope erosion control and rebuild works along the Nepean Highway, Dr. JP Giroud’s geosynthetics lecture series in Australia, and the use of sand-filled geocontainers to preserve infrastructure at Yamba’s Whiting Beach.
In materials and innovation news, the issue reports that Geofabrics’ successful bidim® geotextiles line has been combined with a Tensar geogrid to create a special, multi-functional geogrid composite material. They write:

February saw the first sale of our innovative new solution for soil reinforcement. Geofabrics has invested in a lamination line that allows us to attach our bidim geotextile to Tensar® geogrids–blending the performance benefits of two geosynthetic leaders.

The benefits of the lamination process include the improved installation times on site as well as the flexibility to attach a specific grade of bidim® geotextile to a specific grade of Tensar® TriAx™ geogrid.
