In recent years, NAUE has truly staked its claim as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of geosynthetics through a series of high-impact activities. The company has invested significantly in facilities, efficiency endeavors, and manufacturing technology. It achieved ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification in Germany, SAMM accreditation in Malaysia, BBA Certification for a high-strength geogrid in the United Kingdom. These investments have been very well timed, as markets have grown simultaneously, especially for the company’s core reinforcement geosynthetics (Secugrid® and Combigrid®) and in key application sectors such as infrastructure and hydraulic engineering.

That growth story continues with the initiation of yet another geogrid line this month. Additionally, the company has received a prestigious global market leader honor.

NEW GEOGRID LINE

On May 10, NAUE inaugurated its fourth major geogrid line at a facility in Adorf, Germany. The city’s mayor, Rico Schmidt, joined NAUE Managing Director Alexander Naue for a symbolic turning on of the system.

Both Secugrid® and Combigrid® materials will be produced. The products are laid geogrids made of stretched, flat bars with welded junctions. The Combigrid® brand utilizes the primary Secugrid® geogrid and embeds between the bars a highly durable nonwoven geotextile (thus, providing reinforcement, soil separation, drainage, and filtration in a single reinforcement layer). The materials are used for stabilization and reinforcement applications throughout civil engineering, such as in road building, landfills, mining, and hydraulic engineering.

A MAJOR BUSINESS HONOR

Professor Christopher Müller, co-director of the renowned HBM Entrepreneur School at the Switzerland-based University of St. Gallen, released the school’s 2018 index on global market leaders across a large range of business sectors. Germany-based business publication WirtschaftsWoche, a large-circulation weekly publication on economics and business, worked with Müller on identifying the top Germany-headquartered businesses from the index. The resulting list, available here (PDF), identifies 450 Germany-based companies across a diverse range of markets.

NAUE was recognized by HBM’s analysis for global trade leadership in “Geosynthetics for Hydraulic Engineering and Infrastructure Applications.”

The NAUE Group’s 12 companies are supported by more than 480 employees. The organization a achieved an export share of greater than 50% in 2018, which certainly contributed to its position in HBM’s rankings.
